It was just a little joke, making a dating account to mess with people using pictures of a hot girl to mess with people. After months of this, you decided to go even further, arranging a meet-up with one of the guys you've been talking to. Thinking this would be the funniest prank ever recorded, you grabbed your phone and made your way to the meeting place, completely intent on recording his reaction to being had and posting it online. Chuckling at your genius, you pulled into the parking lot of the dockside cafe you told him to go to and made your way inside.
You spotted him at the back of the restaurant, on the large patio overhanging the ocean. Setting your phone to record, you approached the man who looked up at you with confusion. "You just got PRANKED!" You shouted at the man, making sure you caught his face in your lens, "There is no Kaia! Her pics are of just some model I found online!" The man, figuring out what happened, turned red with anger. "You think you're so funny?" He said through gritted teeth, his eyes glowing with terrifying malevolence. "B-bro, chill, it was just a joke!" You stammered, backing away as he stood and approached you. With a powerful arm, he seized you by your neck and threw you over the railing, into the briny depths.
You hit the water at full force, a wave of pain coursing through you. You struggled to catch your breath in the cold sea, unaware of the changes flowing through your body. You sucked saltwater into your lungs, expecting to drown, but you felt it flow through your… neck? You touched your neck to find slits… no… GILLS! You, justifiably, began to freak out at the prospect that you had just gained gills. You noticed the hand you pulled away was smaller, longer, and more delicate in nature. You set about hyperventilating, swallowing gallons of water which mostly exited your gills… mostly. Each gasp added a bit of heft to your chest, expanding it with fat. This only leads to you panicking further and thus growing your tits faster. Somehow, you were becoming a fish-woman hybrid! Then it clicked, a mermaid.
As if waiting for you to realize what had happened, your legs forced themselves together, the skin knitting itself into one. A beautiful set of teal-scaled enveloped your new method of locomotion as your feet flattened to become the fins on your tail. Your hair, floating in the water like it was in space, lengthened and turned a deeper blue than your bottom half. Your ears started to move, relocating themselves on top of your head, growing fuzzy as they did so. Out of everything, the idea of gaining furry ears stuck with you as the strangest out of everything.
When you finally surfaced, you looked up at the man who was now grinning from the railing. "I see my little revenge worked out perfectly," he laughed before pointing at your ears. "Cat fish," he chuckled, "Get it?" You stared at him blankly, uncomprehending what the man had just done to you. "Doesn't matter," he said sternly, "You decided to fuck with me, so now you have to pay the price, 'Kaia'". You tried to speak, but nothing came out of your mouth. "Don't try, you no longer have the lungs to speak like a human," he blew you off, "That reminds me, I should probably make sure you know what you're doing now. I'm not evil, after all."
The man's eyes started to glow again. You tried to look away, to dive into the water to avoid whatever magic he was going to imbue you with, but you found it impossible to look away. Your old memories of being human, of being male, left. Each one was replaced with an almost equal one of having always been a neko mermaid. Your mind swam as your personality was swapped, your old thoughts being discarded. You were Kaia, you knew that now, and you had to be getting back deeper into the ocean; who knows what the humans would think if they saw you this close to shore. You turned and swam away, the strange mental fog you felt fading the further you got from that man, your only hope being that he didn't see you.
