This guide will help you get started with managing your blog.

A few notes before we begin:

  • For many inputs, you may see a larger input field with a lot more options to format the text with. These fields can be written with Markdown syntax in mind, which simply enhances the presentation of your text. Not everything in Markdown is supported, but many of the basics are.
  • All delete actions are irreversible, be very careful when performing deletions.
  • For any inquiries, contact us via our Discord server or by sending an email at admin@tgcaps.net. We try to respond within 72 hours of the email or message being sent.

Blog settings

  • Blog title: The title for your blog. Has to be between 3 and 100 characters long.
  • Blog URL slug: The part of the URL that uniquely identifies your blog. Example: If you set your slug to be my-slug, your blog can be accessed at https://tgcaps.net/my-slug. Not recommended to change unless you're doing it for the first time or you're rebranding, as changing it will hurt discoverability and break URLs/links to your blog. Only lower case alphanumerical characters and dashes allowed and has to be between 3 and 25 characters long.
  • Patreon URL: An optional URL to your Patreon account if you wish to share that with users of this website. Important: You must set this URL for users to have the option to sync their Patreon tiers.
  • Blog description: An optional description of what your blog is about and whatever else you see fit typing here. Has a limit of 10,000 characters.
  • Post description footer: An optional piece of content that will appear below the description of all of your posts, great for putting links to other socials or anything else you want to promote very often. Has a limit of 1,500 characters.
  • Blog theme: The color theme for your blog.
  • Blog font: The font family for your blog.
  • Blog background image: Upload and set a background image for your blog.
  • Background image opacity: The opacity for the blog background image you have set.
  • Commissions open?: Whether your open to take commissions or not.
  • Commission guidelines: Your rules, guidelines and any other information related to your commissions. Has a limit of 100,000 characters.

Categorization

You can categorize and organize your posts using tags, tag categories, collections and locks defined by you. These are only available on your blog, not in anyone else's.

Creating/updating tags and collections

You can create up to 200 tags and collections (combined).

  • Tag/collection name: Must be between 2 and 100 characters long and must be unique across your blog. There can't be a tag with the same name as a collection and vice versa.

Deleting tags and collections

Posts with the assigned tag or collection won't be deleted, the tag or collection will simply be removed from the post.

Creating/updating tag categories

  • Tag category name: Must be between 2 and 25 characters long and must be unique across your blog.

Moving the arrow buttons will change the order in which tag categories appear.

Deleting tag categories

Tags under an assigned tag category won't be deleted, the tag will simply become categoryless.

Creating/updating locks

  • Label: A label/name to identify this lock. Must be between 2 and 100 characters long.
  • Password: The password users need to input to unlock posts with this lock. You must write down this password outside of this service once the lock created because we encrypt the password and it remains such, it can never be decrypted. Must be between 2 and 25 characters long.
  • Revoke access to all users after resetting password?: When resetting the password for a lock, you can decide whether to revoke access to the users who have unlocked it. This feature can be useful to revoke access after the password gets leaked or has been easily cracked.

Deleting locks

Locks under an assigned lock won't be deleted; however, it will become publicly available (unless protected via a Patreon tier).

Importing your Patreon page's tiers

If you have a Patreon account, have it linked and are subscribed to the "professional" tier for this website, you'll be able to synchronize/import the tier's from your Patreon page onto TGCaps.Net.

To avoid making excessive requests to the Patreon API, you're only allowed to update these tiers every 5 minutes and should only be done if you've added, updated or deleted a tier on your Patreon account.

How do I link my Patreon account?
Linking it is as simple as logging out and then logging back in with Patreon.

Why do some tiers have "(deleted)" next to their name?
Tiers with "(deleted)" next to their name means that they're deleted over on Patreon but are kept on TGCaps.Net to avoid breaking or undesired changes related to the visibility of your posts. These tiers can't be added or removed to any post, since they're no longer available anyways.

If you think a tier is labeled as deleted incorrectly, please contact us.

Managing your TGCaps.Net subscription

The website's subscriptions are 100% handled on Patreon as per our Terms of Service, section "Payment processing". Want a refund? Have issues with payments? We are not the ones in charge of any of that! Please read Patreon's documentation or contact them for any inquiries related to payments.

What is TGCaps.Net responsible for

  • Making sure your Patreon subscription is reflected on the website. Some changes may not be reflected immediately, feel free to update it manually via the website's UI or wait 6-12 hours for the server to automatically do this. Please contact us if you're having issues with updating/synchronizing your subscription tier.
  • Making sure you have access to the features listed and promised on TGCaps.Net and on the website's Patreon page. If a feature is listed on your currently subscribed tier and you don't have access to it even after making sure your subscription tier is synchronized between TGCaps.Net and Patreon, please let us know immediately.

Posts

Creating/updating posts

You can create media and literature posts. Media posts include one image and an optional transcript while literature posts are just text.

  • Post title: Descriptive title for your posts. Has a limit of 100 characters. If not set, the title will default to "Untitled Post".
  • Post URL slug: You can't edit this in any way, but it's important to know about this automatically generated input. This slug is part of the path where your post can be found via URL and is generated via making the title of the post URL friendly followed by the automatically generated ID of the post. Example: Your creator slug is "myblog" and the slug for a post is "my-tg-caption", then your post will be available at "https://tgcaps.net/myblog/post/my-tg-caption-1", where in this hypothetical case, "1" is the ID of the post.
  • Image: For media posts only. You can choose a file from your file system or drag-and-drop a file that is either a PNG, JPG, JPEG or GIF. The size for any file type has a limit of 150MB.
  • Image thumbnail: For media posts only. If the uploaded image is taller than it is wider or vice versa, you can customize the orientation of the thumbnail. Regardless of orientation, it always focuses on the center.
  • Post body: For literature posts only. The main content of the post.
  • Tags and collections: Select how you want to categorize this post via the tags and collections you've created.
  • Description: An optional description for your post. Highly recommend linking to content you don't have the copyright ownership of and explicitly stating that you're not the copyright owner.
  • Transcript: For media posts only. An optional transcript that you can provide as an alternative for readers in case the image is text-heavy.
  • Schedule to publish at: The date in which you want a post to become publicly available at. You can also set this date to be in the past for content you've already uploaded on other platforms and want to keep the chronological order of said platforms.
  • Locks: You can lock a post behind one of the locks you have created. Only one lock can be assigned to a post and the post can still be Patreon-exclusive, you can't set the Patreon exclusivity period if you setup a lock for a post.

Patreon exclusivity settings

If you're subscribed to the "professional" tier and tick the "Patreon exclusive?" checkbox, you're able to configure the following settings:

  • Patreon tiers: The post will only be available to those who are subscribed to the Patreon tiers you select. The only exception to this are early access posts.
  • Exclusivity period: This is how you can optionally configure early access posts. You can set an amount of days that the post will remain exclusive to the selected Patreon tiers before becoming public to everyone else regardless of their subscription or lack thereof. Must be an integer greater than 0 and less than 365.

Advertisements

If you're subscribed to the "professional" tier you can create, edit and delete advertisements that will appear across your own blog and within the blogs of users in the Free tier of TGCaps.Net.

Creating/updating advertisements

You can create up to 50 advertisements.

  • Advertisement title: The title of the advertisement, the most eye-catching textual part of the ad. Must be between 2 and 100 characters long.
  • Advertisement body: The body of the advertisement, adding additional informmation not present in the title. Must be between 2 and 100 characters long.
  • Link: The URL of where you want to redirect users when they click on this advertisement.
  • Icon: An icon/graphic that will appear next to the title.
  • Weight: A higher weight means it will appear more frequently. 0 means it will not appear at all.
  • Color theme: An advertisement can have a theme separate from the one you have set for your blog. Affects the background and border color of the advertisement banner.

Aggregating views and clicks

For blog views, post views, and advertisement clicks their values are updated every 5-10 minutes to avoid overloading our servers.

A view or is added if any user keeps the tab containing the respective blog and/or post open for at least 10 seconds. This is to avoid counting accidental clicks as well as giving a more realistic time a user would spend to actually see the post's contents.

No special rules for clicking advertisements. If a user clicks it, it counts towards the sum.

Closing notes

This should be everything you need to get things started. All of this is outlined in detail so you know what could be an intentional limit or a mistake/error on the website. For any errors you may encounter, please contact us and give as much information as possible.

For more information on copyright and the content contained within your blog and your posts, please read the "Copyright" and "Your Content" sections of our Terms of Service.

With all of that said, happy posting!
