The closed off streets of the city's Chinatown were a bustle with festivities as people all across the city gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year. One of those people was Emily Liu, a young Chinese-American woman who didn’t think too much of traditions but partook in them for the sake of her family. Despite this Emily still found it fun to partake in some of the traditions as she had bought a cute, pink fitted qipao as one of the things pink symbolized was romance, which she had not been so fortunate with. Plus, it was a great time to see family members she didn’t get to see very often and eat delicious food. One of said family members she wished she could see more often was her Auntie Yīng who had given her a red envelope and told her that since she was born in the year of the horse she might finally have some luck, specifically teasing Emily that she may find a young man to settle down with soon. Emily, though embarrassed by her Auntie's casual remarks, graciously accepted the envelope and once she was in private she opened it to see that her Auntie had given her a crisp twenty dollar bill and a golden necklace with a horse pendant on it. “I really should wear that charm Auntie Yīng gifted me…” Emily stepped to the side of the busy street, tucked away between two vendor stands, and pulled the necklace out of her purse. The lantern lights twinkled against the polished gold charm as she held it out in front of her to take a long good look at it before placing it over her head and resting it on her neck.
Emily stepped back out onto the street and began making her way down the long line of stalls. Some sold food such as turnip cakes, sesame balls, steamed buns, and jianbing, which Emily treated herself to, while others offered fresh tangerine and pomelos, zodiac horse plushies, paper firecrackers, and lucky know bracelets. Every now and then she’d hear the distinct loud crack of firecrackers go off from somewhere else down the street, which at first startled her but she quickly got used to it. Plus, the sudden crackling and popping wasn’t much more disruptive than the loud chatter and vendors beckoning people to their stands. Right after buying some candied hawthorn skewers and a scallion pancake a small crowd had made its way to where she was at as some folk partook in the Lion Dance. Emily opted to stand off to the side, enjoying her snacks whilst watching the impressive showmanship of the traditional dance. They danced about the stalls, ‘eating’ lettuce and the red envelopes that some of the vendors had sat out before spitting the lettuce back out at the vendor whilst keeping the envelope for themselves. It was during this that the few fireworks the city had let the Chinatown launch careened off into the sky, exploding one after another.
As Emily watched the fireworks and finished up the last of the treats she had bought for herself the charm began to feel warm against her sternum. She could feel it through the silk fabric of her dress and the more time passed the warmer it got. “What the?” She reached a hand up and placed her palm on top of it. The pendant felt significantly hotter against her bare skin but that wasn’t what she was concerned about anymore. She could feel her breasts beneath her dress swelling at a considerable pace as the added mass began pressing into her hands and fingers. The qipao’s bodice extended outwards as it tried to contain her burgeoning bosom but they were too big for it to contain. Swells of titty flesh spilled out from the side of her dress, indenting and bulging where the hem of her attire pressed down on it. Though her now huge chest had caused the skirt of her dress to ride up it was her equally growing hips and thighs that made it noticeable. Her plump thighs and ridiculously wide hips pressed against the dresses sides, parting the side slits and letting the supple flesh of her be seen by those close to her that had noticed the commotion she was making. It only left a small strip of fabric dangling uselessly in front of her to cover her modesty but even then the gentle folds where her thighs met the lower half of her torso were on full display. She darted one arm around her chest, clutching it tightly as she tried to cover what of her areolas were poking out, and the other arm darted down to hold the flap of fabric in front of her groin.
She darted her head back and forward, looking for a spot to hide herself but before she could she felt an ache at her tailbone and in her ears. The back flap of her dress, which no longer fully covered her rear, was lifted up as her spine extended outwards. The new appendage sprouted hair all along itself which grew long until she had a horse tail swishing behind her. Meanwhile her ears grew longer as they snuck their way further up her head. As they parted through her hair they curled into a funnel shape and grew a layer of short fur to match her own long, silky black hair. “Is that a horse tail?! And are my ears-?” She left her arms where they were as she wiggled her ears atop her head. By now quite a few eyes had turned their attention away from the Lion Dance and fireworks and were staring directly at her causing her to panic and dart back into the alley way behind the food stall.
Emily pressed her back against the brick wall, her chest was heaving as she took quick panicked breaths. The new weight on her chest felt odd as it rose and fell as she breathed, causing the skin being squished by the trim of her dress to rub uncomfortably against the sensitive flesh. She took her hand off her groin and tentatively raised it up to her head to feel her equine ears. She brushed her knuckles gently against them, causing them to flick downward. “What’s going on?! Why did this happen?! Was it the-” The charm! She lowered her hand from her head and placed it in between the divet her breasts had formed in her qipao. Nestled between the soft mounds on her chest she felt the now cold gold charm with her fingers which she yanked off and tossed away from her.
