She never ate seafood, nor went to the beach, ever again. I apologize for uploading shitty drafts.

My skin felt hard and cold, my many legs scuttling around and moving and holding me up by instinct… Through my beady eyes I could see the muddied, swirling watery world that surrounded me… reality. Right, my body had somehow been stolen by that crab when I was scuba diving at that coral reef. The days had blended together. Weeks? Months? It felt like years… All without catching any trace of any humans at all. A living hell that I would never escape…
And then I saw it. A dark figure floating above me. I crawled over to the highest land I could find, desperate to get a look, desperate to touch whatever it was. If only I could see one again, I thought, I would be satisfied, and then I could go get eaten and die or whatever. I waited, waited for it to get closer. I reached my arms out. It was so close…
My lungs burned, but I didn’t give in. My body was different, my instincts strangely familiar… Through sheer determination, I held my breath, waiting until I could see the shimmering surface of the water. Once I was sure, I pushed forwards, and felt myself rising up…
I drifted for a while, catching my breath and finding a small sandbar that I could stand on. Human, I was a human again! I flexed my fingers and toes and touched the soft skin on my face. I felt totally exhausted and weak, but deep down, everything felt right again…
Clear vision, breathing dry air… it felt so rejuvenating. Brown lengths of hair draped down in front of my vision. I seemed… shorter? My arms and legs looked thin and small, for some reason. I looked down at the water. For a split second in the waves, I could see a reflection… my face? I saw big green eyes, and a round, flawless, cute face… I grabbed between my legs, feeling a wet swimsuit, but nothing else underneath. I was a little girl!
I looked back at the water, and saw more… a helpless little girl, with sopping wet brown hair, still breathing deeply through her mouth. I reached my hands under my swimsuit to look… it was real. I looked away, looking at the bright sun overhead, the empty distant horizon on all sides. I felt guilty. I stood and walked around, testing the muscles in my short, girly legs. But just being a human again was enough to make me feel powerful and proper again, like I was invincible.
But I couldn’t take what wasn’t mine… When I felt strong enough, I waded and then lightly swam around. When I found it, I slowly approached, and with all of my willpower, gently grabbed… and picked up the crab. But nothing happened. Its body felt so heavy and alive in my hands, its helplessly moving legs so long and big that the tips reached past the side of my vision. Oh yeah, there were tons of crabs. It was long gone. I would just have to take this body. God must have been real, God must have given this to me… I already gave it a chance, she wouldn’t survive anyways… right?
Water, my body wanted water, but not that kind of water… The sun burned all around. I tried to hide my hands and my shoulders under my hair to stop it. I waited and waited… and then, as the sun was going down, I saw a small boat. Then it started coming, closer and closer. I really was going to go back, I really was saved… There were so many things that I should have cared about, feelings I should have felt… but all I could think about were the fantasies of my new life as a little girl.
