My eighty-seventh caption, this time featuring Cold War espionage and a bad attempt at a German accent.

Following the Cuban Missile Crisis and a near nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union, the Soviets double-down on their attempts to infiltrate the United States by… other means.

I know it probably doesn't need to be said, but I don't support the Soviet Union, Russia, or any communist countries/viewpoints. I wrote this for fun, inspired by the historical use of honeypots during the Cold War.

I unfortunately do not have a source for the artwork, though I suspect it was generated.

All image credits go to their respective artists. I have and never will claim ownership over any image I've used or modified for a caption, and I always encourage you to check out the artist and their wider body of work when possible.

  1. The United States and Soviet Union barely avoid triggering a nuclear conflict during the Cuban Missile Crisis, straining Cold War tensions between the two powers to the near breaking point. In the wake of this event, the Soviets begin pouring a significant amount of money into new, experimental programs designed to infiltrate the United States, allowing them to better spy on the Americans and corrupt their capitalist regime from the inside. While they had initially been quite successful with their efforts in the 40s and 50s, the United States had become far more aware of the methods the Soviets used. To further progress their plans for a Soviet-led future, they needed something special, something innovative, to bypass the CIA and get information from the highest levels of their government. So, they turned to the one thing that had always worked throughout history: women. A strategy older than time.

  2. The KGB finished establishing their new “Zmeya Project”. This highly-classified program was created for the sole purpose of modifying and training KGB agents to the ultimate femme fatale, capable of using both their skills and beauty to infiltrate all levels of government. Using an experimental serum developed by a former German scientist, Dr. Isaac Sehlmann, the project could, theoretically, transform a perfectly healthy male into a biological woman, without any flaws and with tailor-designed features. The doctor was “recruited” during the Great Patriotic War, and had originally been trying to develop a sort of “miracle drug” or “super serum” to administer to German military units, the idea being to make them more effective in combat. Instead, his serum did the opposite, turning the male subjects into women, though not completely and with numerous side effects. Seeing the potential value of this research, the Soviets abducted him during the Battle of Berlin, spiriting him away behind the quickly-forming Iron Curtain to continue its slow development.

  3. Using the newly-emerging field of nuclear medicine, Dr. Sehlmann eventually stabilized his serum into a more… reliable form, though it still wasn’t anywhere close to perfect. Even though the serum could be designed to induce certain… desirable features, subjects who were compatible with it were few and far between. Those receiving the serum need to possess specific genetic markers for proteins and nucleotides to bond to the subject, otherwise the transformation would result in, at best, a simple reduction of overall body mass or, at worst, lead to the subject becoming a hermaphrodite. Neither of these results were suitable for the Zmeya Project, meaning subjects had to be picked very carefully, and from a very limited pool of potential candidates.

Thus, Agent Koldan Petrov entered the picture. Koldan had a perfect record. Graduated with top marks from Moscow State University in 1961, joined the Spetsnaz GRU, and served with distinction during the Invasion of Czechoslovakia before being transferred to the KGB. Even with his list of accomplishments, none of it mattered when weighed against his genetic code. He was exactly what Dr. Sehlmann had been looking for all these years.

Once his compatibility was discovered, it didn’t take long for him to be inducted into the Zmeya Project. Given the secretive nature of the project, not much had actually been explained to Koldan Petrov before he was whisked away to a secret laboratory near Kosvinsky Mountain. Only after he had arrived was the true nature of what was expected of him. Even with his university education, the advanced, ground-breaking science went far over his head, leaving him more confused than anything else. They wanted to turn him into a woman, an actual woman, and use his skills to work his way into the inner workings of the United States. As strange as it all sounded, there was no way he’d say no, of course. He was a proud soldier of the Soviet Union. To shy away from this procedure, no matter how unconventional, crazy, and weird it sounded would be cowardly and unpatriotic. He agreed to do it not long afterwards.

A few days later, after feeding on a carefully-regulated diet and taking a whole hospital’s worth of pills, he was ready for the procedure. Placed inside of a specially-made conversion chamber, he was hooked to an oxygen feed and surrounded by a bath of amniotic fluid. Needles were inserted into multiple points all over his body, causing him to feel incredible amounts of pain. Knowing there was no going back, he fought against the urge to scream, feeling his body heat up as the serum shot through his bloodstream. He watched through the fluid as his body began to shrink, taking on a more androgynous look as his muscles practically melted away. Though he retained his former height, other bones could be felt painfully flexing and reshaping to better match what a woman would have, his hips especially. His face shrunk along with his hands, both becoming far more attractive in shape and size. The muscle mass he had lost seemed to instead go straight for his chest, creating two perfectly shaped breasts that managed to block his view of the rest of his body. Though he couldn’t see it himself, he could feel his manhood inverting, creating a womanly void that left him with a sudden, intense burst of pleasure as it finished.

The conversion chamber was finally opened a few minutes later, allowing the cold air outside to flood over his, now her, glistening body. She could feel her nipples hardening and goosebumps rising as she took off the mask, breathing in deeply. An ecstatic Dr. Sehlmann rushed in with his usual limp, overjoyed that his years of work finally bore fruit. Sure, it wasn’t what he had envisioned back in 1941, but at least he had succeeded. She was completely perfect.

“Velcome to your new life, mein dear.” He greeted with a smile, offering his hand to her. Though still weary of this whole thing, the woman accepted his hand as he pulled her out of the tank. “I must say, you have become quite zee beautiful voman. You have surpassed all expectations.”

Koldan couldn’t believe what had happened to his… her body. Though she was still quite wobbly and in a not-so-insignificant amount of pain following the procedure, it didn’t take long for her body to start adjusting. Following her period of recuperation, she was sent to East Germany to be trained by a local Madame in the ways of femininity. She learned all manners of things, from acting like a proper lady, how to get a man’s attention, and best of all, how to manipulate people to better suit the needs of your objective. No longer were handguns and knives her weapons, seduction and guile had taken their place.

  1. Early January. The new Veronika Tarasova, now better known by her new alias, Viper, had completed her training. Her first assignment would be taking her to the United States. Her objective was to infiltrate NASA, with the short-term goal of stealing designs related to their “Apollo Program”, mainly their rocket designs. Long-term, she was to seduce and get closer to someone important using the fake identity of Valerie Bradshaw, a mathematician. With any luck, her position would give her better access to more classified documents, and maybe closer to one of those… hunky Apollo astronauts…
