My one-hundred and fifty-first caption, featuring the intro I wrote for the collab @TGCapsCenter is hosting, and @CatEnBoots and I are co-hosting! It's going to be pretty big, so keep your eyes open for everyone's entries over the next few days! My own proper entry will be out before you know it!

I could hardly believe the day had finally come. It had been years since I, Project Lead Dr. Janus Delacroix, joined “Project Parvati”, an international effort aimed at breaking the boundaries of modern science. Scientists like myself from all across the world gathered in one location to pool our knowledge together with one goal: the development of the world’s first functional teleporter. This teleporter, which my team had decided to name the “Spatial Distortion Device”, or SDD for short, just underwent its first successful test, with a brave group of volunteers having followed your probes through the device to the surface of Mars. It had become humanity’s next technological leap, and I was thrilled to be at the forefront of it all.

That evening, as my team worked on the SDD’s finer parts following the successful test, there was a sudden and unexpected activation of the device. There had been no input from my own instruments, especially with one of the safety keys in my pocket, yet somehow it had activated. Before any of my team members could clear the platform, a portal enveloped all of them as a wave of energy shot outwards in all directions. I was knocked back by this wave, feeling lighter even before I had hit the floor. Pulling myself back up, I looked around to see the SDD enveloped in flames, alarms going off all over the place. Even with all of that, it still wasn’t my biggest concern. Everything about my body felt wrong. It wasn’t just the sense of pain, no, it was something else. My feelings were confirmed as my arms brushed against a pair of large, heavy breasts that now hung off my chest, causing an initial sense of shock before I squealed in pure panic. Somehow, this “energy wave” emitted by the SDD had changed my gender before being stopped by the shielded walls of the room. All traces of my team were gone, either teleported to God-knows-where, or vaporized when the machine exploded.

The aftermath was quite fast and confusing, having to quickly get used to my new, feminized form and change my first name to Janice. The teleporter, the SDD, was completely wrecked, with very little left to even examine for answers. It was honestly a miracle that I had survived the explosion at all. After a few months of investigation, I discovered that the activation hadn’t been on our end, but from an unidentifiable, outside source. It seemed impossible at the time, but it didn’t even seem to originate from our “dimension” or “time”, but another I couldn’t even hope to communicate or connect with given humanity's current level of technology. This also meant that any hope of “retrieving” the other members of my team was effectively impossible, meaning they were likely still out there somewhere. If that “wave” had affected them the same way it had myself, I could only imagine what they were going through…
